Besamé Cosmetic Review
Posted on 06 October 2016
Awhile back, I was looking for the perfect red lipstick and asked everyone what their favourites are on instagram.
One of you was so sweet to not only suggest but sent me one of your favourite lipstick (thank you, Liying for the Von Teese MAC lipstick!I love love love it).
A few of you ladies suggested Besamé and that’s how I found out about this brand.
I checked out their website in disbelief because what cave have I been living under to not have heard about this brand before even though their products look so gorgeous and most of the shades are exact replica of popular shades of red (ahem, Red Hot Red was Marilyn Monroe’s favourite).
I couldn’t decide on what colour to get so I ordered sample matches to try on the 5 most popular shades before deciding.
From L to R : Red Hot Red, Cherry Red, Besame Red, Red Velvet and American Beauty.
Here are the swatches and I have to be honest, nothing makes you feel more self conscious about your upper lip hair until you start doing lipstick reviews.
My personal favourites are Red Hot Red and American Beauty. Both have very smooth application.
Besame Red is a very similar shade to NARS’ Dragon Girl but I prefer Dragon Girl’s formula as it is more lasting and less transferrable.
Red Velvet has plum undertone in it and I can see myself whipping this colour out for a 20s themed party but on a daily basis, I just don’t see myself reaching for this colour often.
Cherry Red is by far the darkest and the one with most brown undertone.
Some people look absolutely gorgeous in this shade but unfortunately, I am not one of them.
With heavy brown undertone, I have the tendency to look as if someone poisoned me. (which is better than looking terminally ill or like Nicki Minaj when I have nude lipstick on so there’s still hope for this lipstick if I do eventually purchase it).
It was also harder to achieve even application with this one.
Each matchbox I purchased contained 5 matches (each match can be used for 1 or 2 applications).
Initially, I thought I could pick and mix 5 shades in a box but there isn’t such option available so I did the next most logical thing; I bought 5 matchboxes so that I can try 5 different shades and because I still have two boxes of these matches (which I DIY-ed a little to contain all 5 colours instead of just one), now you can try the colours as well!
Please head over to our instagram account @shopbluebelle to find out how you can win yourself one set!
Also, I will be placing an order for a few lipsticks mid of October so if you’re keen, you may e-mail me at info@shopbluebelle.com!
